Convert JPG to PNG
PNG stores images without throwing detail away, which makes it the right choice when a picture will be edited again, layered over a background, or shown as a crisp screenshot or logo. Converting a JPG to PNG stops any further quality loss from that point onward.

Worth knowing
Detail already lost to JPG compression cannot be recovered. PNG preserves the image exactly as it is now — it does not restore what the original JPG discarded.
Why convert JPG to PNG?
- Editing an image repeatedly without piling up compression artefacts (the blur and blocky patches JPG leaves behind)
- Preparing a logo or icon that later needs a transparent background
- Meeting a submission requirement that only accepts PNG uploads
- Keeping screenshots and diagrams sharp instead of blurry around text
