How it works
Four steps, a few seconds
Upload, adjust, convert, download. No account and nothing to install.
Step 1
1. Upload
Drag your file in or pick it from your device. Nothing is sent until you start.
Step 2
2. Adjust settings
Optional. Change the settings if you need to — the defaults suit most files.
Step 3
3. Convert
We convert the file on our servers. Most files are ready in under a minute; long videos take longer.
Step 4
4. Download
Save your file. Your upload is already deleted, and the result is deleted automatically after 1 hour.

Built to be trusted
Your files stay yours
Converting a file means handing your document to a stranger. We built ConvertNicely so that the system, not just a promise, keeps it safe.
Deleted after processing
Your upload is deleted the moment the conversion finishes — whether it succeeded or failed. The result is deleted automatically one hour later, or sooner if you ask.
Nobody reads your files
Conversion is fully automated. No person opens your document, and file contents are never logged, indexed or used for anything else.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Files travel over HTTPS and are stored in private, access-controlled storage that is never publicly readable.
Isolated processing
Every file is converted in its own sandboxed worker with no access to anything else — not the network, not other jobs, not other files.
No unnecessary storage
We keep the metadata needed to run the job and nothing else. Your document contents are never stored, indexed or analysed.
Fast on any device
Video, audio, images and documents each have their own queue, so a long video never holds up a quick image conversion. Most jobs finish in seconds, on a phone as readily as a desktop.
Guides
Guides, and our own tests
Plain-English guides, and our own tests of how much smaller real PDFs and images get.
How much smaller can a PDF get? We compressed 14 real documents to find out
It depends on what kind of PDF it is, not on how big it is. In our test of 14 public-domain documents, colour scans shrank by 39–86% at the default Balanced level and by up to 98% at Strong. Black-and-white scans, long text documents and e-books from professional publishing software barely changed. Every compressed file kept every page, and its text read back exactly as before.
Read the guideHow much smaller does WebP make an image? We converted 52 real images to find out
It depends on what the image was before. Converting 16 phone and camera JPGs to WebP at the default quality saved a median 67%, though most of that came from the quality setting: re-saved as JPG at the same setting, the photos shrank by 62%, and WebP was a median 31% smaller than those JPGs. As WebP, uncompressed TIFF scans and BMPs shrank by 75–99.7%, and still GIFs by 13–76%, most of them with every pixel kept.
Read the guideJPG vs PNG: which format should you use?
Use JPG for photographs, where its compression makes files several times smaller with no difference you can see. Use PNG for screenshots, logos, diagrams and anything with text, sharp edges or a transparent background, where JPG's compression leaves smudges. If the image is for a website, WebP usually beats both.
