Trim a Video
Most videos have a part worth keeping and a lot that isn't: the fumbling before a recording starts, the long tail after the moment you wanted, one answer in an hour-long call. Enter a start and end time and this keeps exactly that section as a new MP4, with its sound. The original file is not touched.

How to trim a video
Step 1
1. Add your MP4 file
Drag your MP4 file into the box, or choose it from your device. It can be up to 95 MB.
Step 2
2. Choose your settings
Fill in “Section to keep”. Adjust Video quality (High), or keep the starting values in brackets, which suit most files. More are under Advanced options.
Step 3
3. Press Trim video
The work happens on our servers, and you can follow its progress. Long recordings take longer.
Step 4
4. Download your MP4 file
Your upload is already deleted, and the result is deleted after one hour.
Worth knowing
Enter the start and end as times such as 00:15-00:45. The section is re-encoded rather than copied, so the cut lands on the exact second you typed, but the clip goes through one more encode. High quality, the default, keeps it closest to the original. To trim a MOV, MKV or WebM, use that format's MP4 converter, which has the same trim field under its advanced options.
Why trim a video?
- Cutting a highlight out of a longer recording
- Removing the dead time at the start and end of a clip
- Getting a video under a length limit before posting it
- Pulling one moment out of a screen recording or call
