Convert BMP to PNG
BMP and PNG both store an image exactly as it is, with nothing thrown away. The difference is that PNG compresses it. Converting keeps every pixel identical while typically cutting the file to a fifth of its size, and produces something browsers and design tools will actually open.

How to convert BMP to PNG
Step 1
