Convert PNG to ICO
A favicon is the little icon in a browser tab, and browsers still ask for it as an ICO — a single file that carries the same picture at several sizes so the browser can pick the one it needs. This fits your PNG onto a square and builds that multi-size ICO, keeping transparency so the icon sits cleanly on any tab colour.

Worth knowing
A non-square PNG is centred on a transparent square so it is not stretched, which can leave space at the sides. The icon is built down from your image, never scaled up past it, so a small PNG produces fewer sizes — start from at least 256×256 for the full set. Only an image under 16 pixels is enlarged, to the 16×16 size every icon needs. Transparency is kept; a PNG with no transparency simply gets a solid icon.
