Convert JPG to ICO
A favicon is the little icon in a browser tab, and browsers still ask for it as an ICO — one file carrying the same picture at several sizes. This fits your JPG onto a square, without stretching it, and builds that multi-size ICO.

Worth knowing
JPG has no transparency, so the icon is a solid picture; a non-square photo is centred on a transparent square, which leaves space at the sides. The icon is built down from your image, never scaled up past it — start from at least 256×256 for the full set of sizes. Only an image under 16 pixels is enlarged, to the 16×16 size every icon needs.
